Designed as a tribute to the old New York steakhouse, inside is a blend of industrial and modern themes combined with historical butchery elements.

Quality steaks are a highlight of the contemporary menu. All of the steaks are sourced with great care to ensure your steak experience at Smith & McKenzie is second to none. We also offer several special occasion and function options including the Chefs Table dining experience and the private McKenzie room located on the mezzanine level.

Smith & McKenzie dry age their steak on site and use a slow cooking technique to ensure a memorable steak experience. The bar has an extensive wine list and also offers the Heineken Star draught range of beers on tap including Heineken, Tiger and Monteiths. It is a venue for all occasions from a casual after work drink, a casual long lunch to a complete evening dining experience.

Recognized on a National level, Smith & McKenzie was a finalist (Top 5) in 2022 for Best Local in New Zealand by Hospitality New Zealand. Smith & McKenzie has also received the Westpac Waikato Business Excellence Award for best Hospitality Business and Supreme Winner for Business Excellence 2014.
