About Us
Central Kids has been providing high-quality, affordable early childhood education and care since 1951. We are a non-profit provider of early childhood education, with 52 services in 28 towns. 32 of our services are in the Waikato, primarily in small town, rural New Zealand.
We offer a child-led, learning through play philosophy that enables tamariki to grow at their own pace – socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. Almost 50 per cent of our tamariki are Maori and we are proud of the diversity in our services.
We are a bicultural organisation, committed to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi. All of our services live and breathe te ao Maori values, to connect our tamariki to our history and heritage. Te Reo is naturally woven into our everyday language, and we authentically engage with local iwi and marae to expose our tamariki to customs and culture from an early age. It’s important to us that we celebrate diversity and create a culture of inclusiveness for a more connected community, inside and outside of our early childhood centres.
Matauranga Ake, our social services team, provides whanau with wrap around support towards achieving a resilient, stable, and supportive home life for tamariki.
We are proud of our history in the communities we serve, with generations of parents and grandparents who attended our services as tamariki now enrolling their tamariki mokopuna. Early childhood services perform a vital role in connecting people. Whaunaungatanga is deep, authentic, visible through our actions and felt through the wairua.
