Description
This Westpac Smarts event will provide small retail business owners with knowledge, confidence, and competence around retail crime and risk management. Hear from Bruce Couper, Managing Director of RISQ New Zealand and Ash Parmar, local passionate retailer in the Waikato.
Bruce Couper is an experienced security professional with a background in law enforcement and entrepreneurship. With 11 years in the New Zealand Police Service, including a role as a Detective in the Criminal Investigation Branch (C.I.B), Bruce played a crucial role in tackling serious crimes such as kidnapping and homicides. He founded The Couper Group Ltd, a leading provider of Investigative and Security Consultancy Services in New Zealand, offering close protection services to key personnel facing serious threats. Bruce's expertise extended to developing specialized training programs on robbery safety, which he delivered to at-risk clients in New Zealand and Australia, including banking organisations.
Ash Parmar has 18 years’ experience in the Retail Liquor Industry based in the mighty Waikato. Ash is a passionate whisky fan who loves talking about whisky, and enjoys sharing quality Dram with friends, old and new. Over the 18 years, he’s set up several businesses and revived ones that were failing. Ash’s strengths are having a strong customer focus where he treats people well, educates them and provides advice. He always rewards loyalty, and truly cares for his customers and fellow retail store owners.
In the past few years, Ash had a horrific experience being victim of multiple aggravated robberies and ram raids. Having experienced this and identifying the impact of retail crime on fellow retail store owners, Ash decided to make a stance and drive change. He has since been representing our Retail Store owners to build awareness of the horrific situation of retail crime in New Zealand, and here in the Waikato. Ash is often seen reaching out to government, police and other organisations to try and bring about change that will improve the safety of our retail store owners and their staff.
Nibbles and tea/coffee will be provided.
Event proudly sponsored by Westpac.
