Description
Managing cancer in the workplace can be an emotional and challenging experience for both employers and employees. Our next Midday Masterclass is designed to help professionals develop a deeper understanding of how to approach these sensitive situations with empathy and practicality.
Helen Carter, CEO of the Cancer Society Waikato/ BOP and Meredith McKenzie, People and Culture Specialist at Everest People will cover essential topics such as legal obligations, workplace accommodations, emotional support, and how to foster a compassionate environment for all team members.
Helen Carter -Chief Executive Officer – The Cancer Society Waikato/ BOP
Helen Carter joined the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Cancer Society as chief executive in August 2022. For over 20 years Helen has helped organisations find ways to grow and sustainably achieve their mission. Early in her career, she was involved with marketing some of the most recognisable global consumer brands, before making the transition to working in the non-profit sector. Helen led marketing and fundraising for World Vision NZ (including their iconic 40-hour Famine campaign) for eight years and more recently has experience in workplace wellbeing and development. Helen also serves on the Hamilton Multicultural Services Trust, which provides wrap-around services to refugee and migrant communities.
Meredith MacKenzie – People & Culture Specialist – Everest People
Meredith guides business owners, directors, and managers through the joys and challenges of staff management to create great work environments. Leadership development and coaching has been Meredith’s passion for 25+ years, in agribusiness, corporate, SME and volunteer organisations. Meredith’s style is practical, enthusiastic and informed, with the flexibility to assist managers at all levels of their career.
Meredith’s senior management experience has been in Veterinary, Finance and Not-for-Profit sectors, complemented by an MBA (dist), Vet Degree, HR training, certified Gallup Strengths Coach. Meredith also holds a current Private Security Personnel Licensing Authority Individual Licence and holds an Association of Workplace Investigators Certificate. Meredith is a member of HRNZ and constantly seeks to bring the best of current thinking into practical reality for her clients.
