Description
Following the success of its inaugural event, Te Ara Whakamua returns in 2026 for an inspiring afternoon of leadership, connection and courageous conversation.
Hosted by the Institute of Directors Bay of Plenty Branch and HPCE Aotearoa, this year’s theme, Give to Gain, explores how meaningful progress is created when we invest in others through mentorship, sponsorship, advocacy and opportunity.
Opening keynote speaker Jazz Thornton—award-winning filmmaker, bestselling author, mental health advocate and co-founder of Voices of Hope—will share her powerful perspective on leading with courage. She will be joined by an outstanding line-up of speakers exploring inclusive leadership, accessibility, collective action, women’s health, empowering the next generation and the ripple effect created when we help others succeed.
Through keynote presentations, personal stories, practical insights and thought-provoking discussion, attendees will be encouraged to lead differently, create opportunities for others and turn good intentions into meaningful action.
Designed for directors, business owners, established and emerging leaders, and anyone passionate about creating positive change, Te Ara Whakamua offers fresh inspiration, valuable connections and practical ideas to take back into your workplace and community.
The afternoon concludes with networking, refreshments and an opportunity for every attendee to make their own Give to Gain commitment.
A contribution from every ticket sold will support Voices of Hope.
