Description
Do you want to have your say on the Future of Local Government?
Join us on 14 February to hear the Local Government Review Group’s summary of their report via webinar and to share your views on why the system of local democracy is broken and how best to fix it. The aim of these events is to promote public engagement with a summary submission to the Review Group by the 28 February deadline.
This event is the third in the series taking place in Hamilton, with this event providing the chance for the business community to hear from and give feedback to the Review group. The group will discuss in the webinar what their recommendations might mean for businesses before a Q&A session.
Prior to the webinar, a panel led by Stuff's Tracy Watkins will discuss their past experiences and identify key issues. Panellists include Sandra Lee (former Minister & driver of the 2002 reform), David Shand (Auckland super city & rating review) and Grant Kirby (Local Government’s 'Mr Fix-it').
The Chamber is co-organising this event with University of Waikato professors Tom Roa and Frank Scrimgeour, new Hamilton City councillor Andrew Bydder and former city mayor Margaret Evans.
