About Simon Wickham
Simon Wickham is the Chief Executive of Rowing New Zealand and has built a distinguished leadership career spanning more than 25 years across sport, professional services, hospitality, retail, tourism, events and charitable organisations.
His career has been defined by leading organisations through growth, transformation and change. From his first CEO role at Yachting New Zealand at just 28 years old, to leading the award-winning Trusts Stadium, driving a major cultural and commercial turnaround in a $100 million business, and serving as CEO of both Baker Tilly Staples Rodway and Harkness Henry in the Waikato, Simon has consistently demonstrated that high-performance leadership principles can be successfully applied across sectors.
Beyond his executive roles, Simon has made a significant contribution to New Zealand sport, serving with the New Zealand Olympic Committee and High Performance Sport New Zealand, and overseeing the selection of more than 2,500 athletes across Olympic, Winter Olympic and Commonwealth Games teams since 2005. In recognition of his services to sport and the Olympic movement, he was awarded the prestigious New Zealand Olympic Order in 2022.
A passionate advocate for leadership development and organisational performance, Simon has completed executive programmes through Harvard Law School, Stanford Graduate School of Business and IMD Switzerland, and continues to share insights on building high-performing cultures, resilient teams and effective leadership.
