Comedy Cellar, New Zealand's largest amateur (team) wine tasting event and a huge night of laughs, learning and entertainment, is coming to Hamilton for Christmas on Friday, December 9th for one night only!
 
Comedy Cellar combines two of life's great joys, comedy and wine, as teams (tables) compete with each other for the title of Hamilton Comedy Cellar Champions (aka the best and most knowledgable wine drinkers in town!). There is a catch, however. At the end of the night, all team scores are counted and averaged so Hamilton can compare their collective score with other towns and regions around New Zealand as we find out who is the nation's best and most knowledgable wine drinkers are! All results are centralised and tracked through the Comedy Cellar website, which is updated after every event (www.comedycellar.co.nz).  
 
Comedy Cellar is co-hosted by New Zealand's most knowledgeable wine expert, Bob Campbell and one of New Zealand's top entertainers and hosts, Michele A'Court. Together they present a unique, fun and heavily entertaining evening that makes for a great night out or Christmas function. Comedy Cellar allows local friends, families, clubs and businesses from around the community to compete against each other on a completely different level while having a ton of fun. Participants also get to learn a thing or two about wine as Bob presents in his special and entertaining way, while Michele provides the jibes.
 
Teams are typically colleagues, clients, friends and families who join forces and try and lift the silverware to take home. The rules are simple, several wines are served blind to each table, and a series of questions are asked about each. Teams then taste, discuss and agree on one correct answer for each question to submit to the judge within the time limit. Some questions are weighted, and some scores are hidden, resulting in a tense and exciting finish. The evening is fully licensed and catered. A great way to end the year with friends, colleagues and clients.
