This event isn't just a run - it's a celebration of Hamilton\, and this year we're marking a huge milestone of 80 years Running!\n\n\n\nFor eight decades\, Lugtons Round the Bridges has brought our people together\, built community pride\, and showcased the very best of our city. It's one of the longest-running events in New Zealand - and in 2025\, this iconic event is shining brighter than ever\, showing exactly what makes our city epic.\n\n\n\nThis event began in 1945\,  started by the Hamilton Harriers Club\, aka Hamilton City Hawks\, who still own the event today.  The club designed the race to promote participation\, enjoyment\, and excellence in running  and that same energy lives on today. Whether you're a seasoned runner smashing the Hamilton City Council 12km\, jogging the Hawks 6km with friends\, or cheering your tamariki through the Grassroots Trust Kids Challenge.\n\n\n\nThe course is Hamilton. Like the first race in 1945\, we start and finish on the main street of the CBD\, race along the river path\,  through the gardens\, and across our iconic bridges. You're not just running through the city   you're running with it.\n\n\n\nThis is mass participation at its finest   open to all ages\, all abilities\, and all backgrounds\, with tiered pricing and a variety of start waves\,  to ensure accessibility because Lugtons Round the Bridges belongs to everyone.\n\n\n\nWe're not just encouraging a healthy lifestyle   we're promoting belonging. Whether you're entering as a workplace\, a school\, a sports team\, or a group of mates\, training together and showing up together is powerful. It builds team spirit\, boosts wellbeing\, and gives people a place to feel connected.\n\nAnd this year\, as we celebrate 80 years it isn't just about looking back   it's about celebrating how far we've come.
