DESCRIPTION:Join us for the August BA4 at The Cancer Society. \n\n\n\nPresentation will be by Helen Carter CEO of the Cancer Society Waikato/ BOP\n\n\n\nCancer Society Waikato/Bay of Plenty offers a range of free practical assistance and supportive care to people with cancer and their Wh nau. This includes:\n\n\n	Transport to and from medical appointments and treatment.\n	One-on-one support from experienced nurses who provide information about cancer and treatment\, assessment and support of treatment side effects and referrals to other healthcare professionals and services\n	Regular support groups which offer a safe space to share information and for people to find mutual support from people who have had similar experiences\n	Therapeutic massage to relieve pain and tension\, improve sleep and better manage the side effects of treatment\n	Access to counselling and wellbeing grants\n\nFor people travelling to treatment at Waikato Hospital\, accommodation is provided at the Cancer Society's Lions Lodge. This 'home away from home' includes meals and a regular shuttle to and from the hospital.\n\nCancer Society Waikato/Bay of Plenty is not directly government funded and relies on community support to run its essential services.\n\nOver the last financial year\, Cancer Society Waikato/Bay of Plenty has:\n\n\n	Helped 1\,712 guests at the Cancer Society Lions Lodge\n	Provided 11\,592 nights' accommodation at the Cancer Society Lions Lodge\n	989 new clients\n	Provided 8\,183 contacts with a supportive care nurse\n	Driven 64\,300 kilometres taking clients to treatment\n\nParking: Parking will be available in the non-reserved car parking spaces at Waikato Society of Potters\, corner Ward Street & Seddon Road. \n\n\n\nRemember your business card to enter a win a fabulous gift basket.
